Ava is a six month old mini lop. Nala is my three year old golden doodle, and Ava’s pet. They share the same birthday (December 26th) and Ava thinks she’s a dog most days. I first wanted to get a bunny for their nitrogen filled poop to help my garden blossom, I was not prepared to fall in love and become a bunny parent. I had no idea of their intelligence and trainability, and never dreamed about having an indoor bunny! I have trained many dogs and work with and collect crystals and minerals for healing therapy. Ava is not spayed yet, but 100% litter box trained. We had a rough patch around puberty, but she quickly rebounded to her great habits. This diva is totally cage free, my room and hallway is bunny proofed and she earns playtime out in the living room and kitchen. Most nights she sleeps under my bed beneath me or up top with Nala.

Ava is a special bunny, we had an incident on just her second day. I was using crystals to help with her adjustment and she snuck a few nibbles of a fibrous calcium (gypsum) based crystal called selenite. I treated her with distilled water immediately to flush her system and consulted my vet. She never skipped a beat and grew into the most beautiful bunny with a gold personality. I believe she is “connected” a little more because of this. When I think about her..she comes hopping right up to me, and she is extremely sensitive to energy, thoughts, and negativity (like anger on TV). Animals in general are much more receptive to alternative healing like acupuncture, reiki, and crystals.

We choose our health and are a non-GMO family with Sherwood Pet Health food. David does not source GMO soy or grain in his products…unlike other big name companies. Ava refuses to eat any hay but alfalfa, so we use timothy based food that helps balance out her diet per David’s recommendation. Thankfully Oxbow sources non-GMO alfalfa that is grown at higher altitudes so the farmers avoid pesticides.

We look forward to learning and networking with our fellow bunnies and parents!

Welcome! Ava and Nala are both adorable!
I hate to say this, but it’s not best to be feeding large quantities of alfalfa in the adult bunny diet as it is very rich and can cause heath issues. You mentioned she doesn’t like timothy. Have you tried other grass hays such as orchard, bluegrass, or oat?
