Hello Everybody, I’m new  in here, I’m the partner of a sweat little bunny called Hinata.

Well, first let me tell you a little bit about my little daughter, I rescued her from a horrible meat farm that was illegal and was found out by police, since they had a lot of bunnies they put them all to adoption and I came up with the idea of having one, so I brought Hinata like six of seventh months ago, I don’t know exactly her age, she’s like 8 months probably, I took her to the veterinarian, she’s a great person and manage to find out that Hinata was dealing with a skin infestation (Scabies) it was pretty bad, and she couldn’t walk really well, so we started treatment. after a few weeks she fully recovered, but the traumatic scars of her past and her disease were still there, she’s scared of humans, including, me.

The problem here is that she recently is being insane! she bites everything, makes awful noises at 1 am and bites and digs inside her cage (a large 46-8/9-inch length by 22-4/5-inch width by 24-inch height) I know it’s natural, but she never did all this before, I mean she’s always outside the cage, inside my house and can walk around the rooms and the living room, etc. but I’m afraid I’m starting to let her locked more, because she started biting the furniture, the walls, our clothes, everything! and that was dangerous, I don’t know what to do with her, because I want her to be outside in the house, not only inside that cage, but I can’t because even if I craft her toys with wood and food and stuff like that she totally ignores them and start biting everything, so I don’t know what to do, my mother keeps telling me that we should get rid of her, but I don’t want to give up! also, here in my country, people take animals like rabbits like cows or pigs, which (sadly) is for food, so she’ll end up in a plate and I don’t want that, she’s my daughter!, and I’m Vegan myself, so I don’t know what to do, how to motivate her or improve my house to be better for her. ¡Please help!

Is she spayed? If not, sexual frustration could be driving her “insane”. It’s very important to spay feamle rabbits since the risk of uterine cancer is very great (80%), but also because it generally improves their behavior, making them less stressed out.

Thank you for rescuing her! Sometimes bunnies need lots of time before they dare trust you. My first bunny sat under a table for a whole year after I found him in the woods: I don’t know what he’d been through, but he needed all that time to “get over it”. Then he became the ideal house bunny. He’s always well-behaved and loves being pet!

Oh hello there, and thank you for saving her! Fellow vegan here as well

It sounds like she needs a lot of TLC, especially since she was saved from meat rabbit conditions. I have a friend that saved a rabbit from becoming meat and she still has trust issues with her mama human.. but is slowly warming up to her.

It sounds like little Hinata is at the age where she needs to be spayed. It’s highly recommended by House Rabbit Society that buns be spayed when they are of age because their chances of reproductive cancer increases. It is the best procedure you can do for you bun and she will calm down

As for rabbit proofing, I would highly suggest neat idea cubes and zip ties. I have them around all of my electronics and my bunny girl ahs not chewed. She also loves cardboard boxes with holes cut, newspaper, fleece blankets. You get the idea

Well, Thanks for answering me, I really don’t know about spaying her, I mean, I live in a small city and Hinata’s Vet is an amazing person, she knows really well different species, but here we don’t have an specialist with Bunnies or Exotic animals, just Cats and Dogs and all that, so, I’m going to ask her about spaying her but I don’t know if she’ll do it

And for Winning her trust, I’m looking forward to the moment when she’ll consider me her human mother
