We are thinking of getting a rabbit.  I’m curious as to the amount of hair overall that would be in our home.  We’ve had cats in the past (he passed away, our home is pet free right now), it is comparable to that?
I know they go through a molt several times a year, and we’d do extra grooming during those times to help control the hair, but outside of those times, how much hair overall is around?
FWIW the rabbit will not free range, they’d be caged during the day, with time out in a controlled, supervised area in the AM and PM, so they won’t be all over the house.
I’m just wondering about the overall hair situation if we bring a rabbit into our home.  I know we’ll have some, but to what extent?  The cat we had shed like crazy, all the time, it was always on our clothes and everywhere.
        Thanks

It’s hard to say and some are worse than others, I think. But if you’re accustomed to cat hair being on everything, you should be fine with a rabbit. I like them way better than cats. Enjoy!

Depends on if you get a continuous shedder or not.

My Flemish only sheds 4 times a year. This new one we have, Speckles…. Shed seems to shed waaaaaaaaaay more than that, but it isn’t too bad for her. Maybe a small brush full a day?

Being the pessimist that I am, I see a rabbit that sheds 4x/yr and maybe lasting a month each. That’s a lot of fur!! But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I have three small bunnies and have found that, even though they are upstairs and we vac their rooms every night, no place in the house is off limits to bunny fluff! I’ve also learned to never wear black around my bunnies! I know that all sounds awful, but the only real difference I’ve seen between having a dog or cat and having bunnies is that the fur is fluffier than our dog’s was! We would find dog “hairs” everywhere, but the bunny fluff seems to be more like …… dust bunnies?!?!
