I’m a preschool teacher and my kids have given me pink eye. I’ve only had it since sunday. is this something that can be passed on to my bunny?

Pink eye is a generic term for an infection of the eye that causes redness and itching. It can be caused by a variety of pathogens. Rabbits certainly can get eye infection, just like humans.

However, it is very rare for the viruses and bacteria that infect one species to also be capable of infecting other distantly related species. One of the rare examples of a virus that does infect numerous species is rabies, and an example of a bacteria would be salmonella.

So, it is possible but very unlikely. Just make sure you wash you hand well with soap and water before touching your bunny, don’t let him lay with anything that you use close to your face (towels, pillows, etc) and don’t rub your face against his.

It depends on what caused the pink eye. I would say to use caution like Eeepster suggested.
