        Hi there

Wondered if someone could help me. I’m currently in a job that I’m not happy in and want to get out of. I would really love to work with small animals, esp rabbits. I am going to start some volunteering at a local rescue centre for rabbits to gain experience but how else would I get to work with them?

I heard you could do a course in rabbit welfare? What jobs are there that don’t need qualifications for working with small animals?

Sorry if I sound a bit vague just want to start somewhere just don’t know how, I am willing to try a course at a college even.

        Many thanks!
        Alexandra

I can’t help you with any specific job advice for a career in rabbits. Thinking to animal professionals, I would say really the only people I pay to work with my rabbits are the vet and anyone who sits for me while I’m out of town.

I would say for any career you are considering, find the service locally (is it a vet office, a boarding place, etc) if you can, visit, make friends, interview-how did they get that job, what did they do. Most people love talking about themselves and would happy to offer advice.

The difficulty would be finding a career with rabbits specifically-vets and people who board, but their aren’t like bunny behaivourists or chiropractors as far as I know. Most careers with animals are on the care, behavioru or veterinary aspects. What do you have an aptitude or interest in? Start there.

              Hiya

Thanks very much for replying, I suppose working with just rabbits would be difficult.

I have started looking into veterinary nursing, we will see!!

              Thanks again?

I don’t think with working with rabbits would be difficult. Like with any animal, they are different and have certain needs. If you want to work with rabbits, I suppose working in an exotic vet clinic would work, as rabbits are known as exotic animals.
