I’ve been keeping my bunny in our finished basement which has two windows, but they don’t let in very much natural light. Our basement is lit with flourescent lights. My bunny recently developed cateracts, and I’m now wondering if this could have been a result of the lighting. Is it harmful to my bunny if I keep her down there? Will her eyes get any worse because of the lights?

I deleted the identical post you posted in the toys and habitat-section. It’s more appropriate in this part of the forum =)

I have no knowledge about fluorescent lights and cataracts, but it rather seems to be a myth:

          Do fluorescent lights cause cataracts?

You sound like me. Something goes wrong and it must’ve been something I did. Ugh!! Don’t beat yourself up. I don’t know about that lighting but I do know I’ve kept many a pet in a flourescent lit finished basement with no eye problems or anything else I felt related to it. I’ll have to check out Bam’s web site she suggested
