I have 2 very young bunnies, a male and a female. they’re both 6-7 weeks old now and they’ve been in a pretty medium sized cage together every since I got them at 2 weeks old. The male bunny keeps mounting the females face! The female will shove him off and chase him around in circles. After she gets to him, she bites off his fur, and the male also bites her fur, and they’ll keep going at it until we stop them with a towel. They’re not spayed yet because I haven’t set an appointment, I also wanted to know when I should get them spayed. I’m worried about the 2 and I have separated the 2 just incase it happens again. Is this because I should get them the surgery now? If so then I guess that’ll solve all the problems. They’ve been fine before it happened.

You started two new threads that were very similar. Here is what you wrote in the other one.

I have 2 bunnies that are 6-7 weeks old. A boy and a girl. I came home to see that Charlie (one of my bunnies) started humping Snowball (female bunny) on the face. After Charlie attempted to face hump Snowball in the face, Snowball shoved Charlie off and they started running around in a circular motion and Snowball started biting Charlie’s fur off. So I got a folder near by and separated them to avoid it going on longer. After 30 minutes of trying to find an answer to my question, I tried to put them together. But the same thing happened. So I have the 2 bunnies in separate cages until I find a resolution. Please help me because I have nothing that I can do, and I want them to get along. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the dominance thing, because they’ve been living in a medium sized cage together ever since they were 2 weeks old. Thank you for reading.

You are right in separating them. If the male mounts the female’s face, she could bite his little private part off, and that would be very, very troublesome and require lots of vet care.

You should have them examined in order to see if they are ready to be desexed. A vet will have to determine this. Are you sure they’re as young as 6-7 weeks?
