Question for the Aussies. I have look around and googled to try and find out where I can purchase critical care and I cannot find it online for sale anywhere….
Is it only able to be purchased from a vet? Does anyone have somewhere online they get it over here?

There’s a few places in Perth and some online sites incl Ebay, most of us have changed to vetafarm crittacare. It’s lucern flavour but a fine grind with probiotics. Try petnvetdirect.com.au & mypetwarehouse.com.au

I’m in SA. I think there’s a pet store here that carries it though I haven’t been there for a long time.
I can always call them. Happy to purchase and mail to you if you like. PM me if so.

There are alternatives (like the one Roberta mentioned) or milling pellets and hay in a coffee/spice grinder.

Thanks Roberta I will check all of those out!

JerseyGirl that is so kind! Thank you, I will see if I can find any of the online stuff that Roberta mentioned and if I am struggling I will let you know – I live fairly remote (Port Hedland in the Pilbara) and we are only a fairly small town so 1 vet and no pet stores, so my only option is to purchase online really.

Revolution is selamectin, it’s the only thing I use on my rabbits, advantage cat is also safe.. Never use Frontline it will kill your bunny.
If you don’t feel comfortable working out doses go for the Revolution Puppy and Kitten under 2.5 kg.
My Pet Warehouse has flat delvery rates or free over $50. For oaten hay you can check out stockfeeders or any place that caters to horses, you want the horse grade oaten hay.

Just placed my order for Henry with MyPetWarehouse with FREE delivery – BARGAIN! Lol! The only catch, it takes a good week for your delivery to arrive, but I’m cool with that if it saves me a few dollars. I too use Revolution for kitten’s on Henry – he gets a dose when the dog’s get groomed and a flea treatment every quarter. For the CC…. thanks to Henry and his tummy of steal (you don’t want to know the stuff he has eaten and ‘drunk’ – good grief!), but I noticed when I was trying to buy his Oxbow pellets & hay locally here that I could only buy CC from the vet, which is ok with me as his vet is one of those who sells it.

If all else fails and you can’t buy CC online while living in Port Headland…. once you find a vet your going to be taking Si to, ask them if they will stock it for you, and the same with the Revolution. I would expect once my bunny was their client/patient, they should be able to cater to all his needs, not just vet care?

And I will be more than happy to give you Henry’s vet info when you move back to Queensland – he and his staff were awesome! All’s I did to find him – when we were at my local vet with one of the dog’s, I said a “friend” had a bunny and wanted him neutered and could they help her out? He said not really, he needs to see an exotic vet (HUH??? Never heard of them! Lol!) and gave me the name and location of our local exotic vet over the bridge (hint hint, hehehe!). So for the sake of location convenience cause you plan on being a Southy, I would do the same. But if you don’t mind a bit of a drive, you are more than welcome to share Henry’s vet. AND you can come visit with me after!!!  Lol!

PS – When I had trouble getting Henry’s pellets once, I found 2 vets on the Southside that sold them (for the hubby to pick up when he visited his parents) and my thoughts are, if you stock it… you must be cool with bunny’s??? So I’m sure you won’t have any problems when you come back.

Didn’t I tell you that Roberta is bloody AWESOME!!!

                        Lol!

PS – The best part of Roberta and Jersey (Kate)??? When it is late and everyone around the world is still in bed, Roberta and Kate will always be here for you! They haven’t let me down once – not ever!

Awesome! – I found the Critta Care on VetnPet direct so will get that and some syringes for my emergency kit.

I will be buying a fair bit of stuff when I travel to get Si, so I will buy revolution etc then for now and then get future stuff online.

Roberta – I need to get Alfalfa hay for a baby though right? He will only be 8 weeks old when I bring him home? I found alfalfa hay on MyPetWarehouse so will buy that with the free shipping as well as the Oxbox pellets from there.

We don’t get fleas up here thankfully!

I suspect our vet probably stocks some of this stuff anyways as they are the only vet in town and there are other rabbits in town. I just haven’t gotten around to seeing what they do and dont have, they are mid renovations so not fussed on going in.

Awesome AH! I will suss it all out if (when) we decide to move back to Brissie. Most vets are pretty good and I have a few around town that I already know and trust in Bris.

I was thinking that AH, every body else is in bed now except us Aussies!

You BETTER move back to Bris Vegas!!!  Lol!

Keep it easy Lee and buy the Oxbow timothy hay – no need for the Alfalfa hay if your going to be feeding Si the Oxbow young rabbit food. That’s what I did. When Si is about 4 to 6 months old, start buying the Oxbow adult rabbit food and mix what ever young rabbit food you have left over to transition and then it will be all easy going from there.

I bought the 4kg bag of Oxbow timothy hay today with 2 bag’s of pellets and litter and it cost me $250!   I EXPECT ‘free’ delivery! Haha! But that should last me a good 6 months+…. it better!  Dam bunny costs me more than my 3 dog’s together  TRUE! And his veggie bill is a good $20 a week – we’ll be back eating Maggi noodles before we know it….  DOH!

                            LOL!

Yikes Andy! Henry’s a hay snob? (still)
You cant get him eating oat hay?

$250 isnt so bad over 6 months, just sucks as a one hit bill haha!

I suppose if I had just the one rabbit I wouldn’t balk at that cost too much.

I’m feeding 5 and 6 month supply of same is about $150. Greens excluded.

I don’t even want to think about what it’s costing at the moment. I try to buy everything but greens fortnightly. I just know my food bill is a lot less than the bunnies and cats.
