Tenzin is being neutered July 10th and he turns 6 months July 13th. I don’t want to switch his diet leading up to a surgery and I also know its not good to do right after a surgery. So when should I start switching his diet?

There probably isn’t a set ‘time’. I would go by how he is recovering. Once you feel like he has made a full recovery, he is eating normally etc, than I would start considering doing a gradual change over.

ok, if everything goes how it should I will plan on starting to switch him a week after the neuter. In my experience by a week after the surgery they are very well healed and acting like themselves ( at least in the case of rat and dog neuters)

The switch can be made anytime now. If you want to wait until a week or so after his neuter, it certainly wouldn’t hurt anything. There isn’t anything that says their diet must be switched to an adult diet the second they turn 6 months. Smaller rabbits tend to stop growing around this time, so that is why the recommendation is there. But nothing bad will happen if the switch isn’t made on schedule, so to speak.

Thank you I just know that if I try switching now he could be stubborn and it could cause issues and if he has issues with the food switch after surgery it can mask symptoms / complications
