Help! Should I take my rabbit to the vet?

She is 3 years old. I woke up this morning to her acting lethargic, refusing to eat even her favorite food (banana), and grinding her teeth loudly like she is in pain when I pet her. (normally she grunts at me if she does not like what I am doing)  It is also clear that the did not eat or drink anything all during last night (from about 11:30 pm to now) She has done this once before, and I assumed it was a gas bubble or constipation because she got over it. However, this time it seems like she is in more pain than before. I worry, though, that taking her to the vet could just upset her more when all she really needs is to be left alone. Any advice on if I should take her to the vet or not? There is an emergency 24 hour clinic where I live.

p.s. I also noticed her nose seems to have a little bit of discharge/crusties

12-24 hours without any food or poop is an emergency. She does not need to be left alone. I think you should take her to the vet since she clearly is in pain (tooth-grinding) and it’s been 10 hours. Many rabbits die from these things. It may be an obstruction of the bowel or just a lot of gas, anyway, she needs to get her intestines moving, preferably some pain-meds and probably fluids. Here’s a good article on this very common but lethal problem in rabbits:

I would take her to the vet, I would definitely be concerned about GI stasis. And like Bam said, 12-24 hours without eating/pooping is an emergency.

Please keep us updated, and good luck!

Thanks for your input. I’m at the vet right now
