I am a bit concerned over how much Lola is eating. She is 5or6, so getting older. She gets a 1/4 cup of pellets, fresh water, hay, and 2-3 cups of grass and veggies daily. I scatter the veggies and pellets around her cage, she always eats most/all of her pellets, just not all her grass. is this normal? Shouldn’t she be a bit more eager to eat? She also is NOT at all interested in toys.

My bunny is 2 years old and is disinterested in all toys. I think it’s just her personality unless she was really into toys before. Not sure if that’d be a major concern. Maybe she’s just picky also? Did she eat all the grass before?

How much does she weigh? Have you tried cutting back on her pellets a little? If she’s filling up on those, she might be disinterested in the other stuff.

The best thing is probably to weigh her every month and keep a record. If she starts to lose weight, then she’s not getting enough food.
Many rabbits prefer their pellets over grass. You could cut back on the pellets a little to get her to eat more grass, but if she’s slim now, keep an eye on her weight if you do.

My rabbits are completely uninterested in toys. Always have been. Bam chases his treat ball around, but I very much suspect it’s not because it’s a fun toy, it’s because it has treats in it and he is a food-monster.

Thanks everyone. She is doing better now, she eats way better now. What do I weigh her with though?

LBJ10: should I cut back more on pellets? She only gets a 1/4 a cup daily

If she is a small bunny, you can use a kitchen scale. That’s what I use for my 4 and 5lb buns. I got one at Walmart for like $15.00. It’s good to keep track of weight, especially in an older bun.

I too use a kitchen scale, and I put the bunny in a kitchen bowl. This may of course be a little scary for your bun, but you’ll soon learn to do it swiftly.
