Hi I’m Krissy. Last week I became the owner to a sweet little girl that I’ve named Nyssa. I’m an 18 year old girl, living in Florida, studying to be a farrier (person who trims and shoes horses). I’m a huge animal lover, currently I’m owned by two dogs,  Noah, a 3 year old Lab/Newfoundland mix, and Thunder a 7 year old German Shepherd/Hound mix, two guinea pigs, Logan and Jakey, two gerbils,, eight mice, and my horse Misty, a 16 year old Arabian mare that is unrideable, but my baby girl.

Nyssa was a gift from my grandfather, in January I lost Ty, my horse and best friend of ten years. He was 35 years old and passed peacefully but unexpectedly and I took his death very hard. I was having a rough time, and my grandpa, who had bought Ty for me, decided to cheer me up with a new pet, and took me to the pet store under the impression we were getting dog food. He saw me playing with Nyssa, and later on went back and purchased her for me.

I personally don’t buy from pet stores, all my animals are rescue or from breeders who are actively seeking to improve the breed (Only my guinea pigs are from a breeder) so I wasn’t thrilled with his choice, but it was done.

So I’ve spent the last week scrambling to figure out the world of bunny ownership.

Thankfully I pulled on my guinea pig knowledge, and soon had Nyssa set up with unlimited grass hay and fresh veggies. So far her food isn’t the greatest, waiting on my order of Oxbow from Amazon, but we’re getting there.

Today I purchased a cheap old dog cage off of Craigslist for a makeshift cage, since I refused to keep her in the tiny pet store cage, and its not perfect, but its a work in progress.

I’m also looking for a bunny in need to be Nyssa’s companion and searching for a vet who spays rabbits. My guinea pig vet only neuters.

Only today did my brain decide to think up the idea of looking for a forum and well…here I am!

Please enjoy the pics of Nyssa and her very boring, very bare cage. And do excuse the mess, I’m in the process of tearing up my carpets, and my room is a disaster.
