Winston has a mild cases of head tilt. I took him to the emergency vet on Saturday night because he was withdraw, hiding away under furniture and flopping. He seemed dizzy when walking. The vet said he had an ear infection and gave him antibiotics (baytrim). He has since perked up, is running around again and back to eating pellets (unlike him to turn them down!)
I’m just worried that his head tilt might get worse. It seems to be at more of an angle, but his behaviour is normal. He can clean himself without falling over now ☺ iv tried massaging his neck so that it doesnt cramp/get stuck in that position, but he’s still young so not one for sitting still for long!
Has anyone else been through head tilt with their bun? Did it get worse before it got better or just stay the same? Can buns have a mild case or does it always turn severe?
Any input would be appreciated! I couldn’t bear to see him rolling around like I’ve read others have with their bunnies

It seems like you caught it early and it’s responding to the antibiotics, so it could very well just continue to improve and not return. I’m sure you already know this, but no matter how much Winston hates it, continue his meds for the full cycle.

I’ve been through ear infections a few times with my BunBun. Now I know what to watch for: Him laying with his head flat on the floor a lot, any wobbling especially after shaking his head, being withdrawn- these symptoms show up before the more obvious ones.

Good for you for being so observant with your bunny ☺! They hide things so well we pretty much need psychic abilities to detect illnesses. I’m glad Winston is doing better- here’s to a quick and uneventful recovery!

Thanks for replying Dee, I’m worried because I found him running in a circle last night, and when I went to bed I could hear him banging around his cage, but the wind was howling and rain was pouring so maybe he was just scared.. He drunk all of his water from the bowl during the night though (I’ve been using a syringe). He’s getting his meds (hidden in mashed banana) so I feel better knowing that they’re going in him. He just looks ill with his head to a side like that, but I just saw him binky so that’s positive
