We both fell asleep after playing, I had been upset because my Eczema on my hands was was really bad and my arthritis in my knee was awful, I woke up on the floor and Olly was licking my hand, I told him “No thank you, but you are a good boy.” I tried to get up and couldn’t, Olly licked my knee, then when he saw me struggling to get up he kept running to the door and banging into it, then started scratching the door, my friend asked what was wrong, I said Olly was behind the door and to be careful, I called Olly back and he sat on my chest and my friend opened the door and asked what was wrong, I said my knee was locked, my friend came in closed the door and Olly got down and and sat by his cage and my friend helped me up into my chair and my friend sat on my bed, Olly ran round and leaped up on to my bed and licked my friends face, I said I was going to bed, Olly got down and went to his cage, I said “I’m off to bed Olly, I stroked him and he rubbed his head on my leg and went in his cage, does he know I’m not well?

He might know that you need help, and that he couldn’t help you.
Animals that are close to their people tend to understand a lot more about moods and physical needs than most people give them credit for.. and it sounds like little Olly knows that his mommy needed someone to help; even if all he could do was like the “boo-boos” and draw attention to the person in need.

My Pete and Zoey have always been very attentive to when I was sick or depressed. They’d come sit with me and comfort me in their own ways… and my Tilly doesn’t quite understand what different stresses mean yet, but she picks up on stress quickly. I think your little Olly is just showing you how much he loves you by trying to take care of you.
