***Disclaimer: This is a LONG post. Feel free to skip the boring words and go straight to the cute pictures!***
Pumpkin and Shamrock have had a very exciting weekend! They have been free-roam since about 7:00 pm on Friday. Their condo is still up for now, but we’ll be taking it down and just leaving their litter box, water dish, and maybe a couple shelves to sit on and hide under.
Free-roam has gone well for them. They really like napping behind the couch and now they can do that during the day when they normally would have been in their condo. It was cute on Saturday morning; they came into our room all sneakily like they were worried they might wake us and we would realize we forgot to put them away! haha and Rocky did some zoomies and woke hubby up around 5:00 am
They honestly seem so happy in general. Hubby made two observations, mostly in regard to Rocky. He’s very particular about when you are allowed to pet him (like a cat!) but he’s been really sweet and letting us pet and snuggle more. Hubby thinks that now that the bunnies have been to the sitter twice and we’ve gone back to get them twice that Rocky is realizing we will always be here for him so it’s safe to get comfortable. Hubby also thinks that maybe now that he’s not caged he’s just happier in general and more apt to accept our love. I’m glad hubby came up with that on his own b/e he wasn’t/isn’t all that keen on free-roamers! But I think there’s some truth to his theories!

Pumpkin and Shamrock also had an outdoor adventure! Now anyone knows that I am a crazy bunny mom that worries about EVERYTHING so don’t worry (because I worry enough!) because we were super careful.
First off, the weather is perfect (60’s farenheit) and we don’t have any bugs (like mosquitos) yet. We set up the xpen and picked up anything that wasn’t grass in that area. Then we covered the top of the xpen with a tarp. Partially for me (I’ve never seen a hawk or anything big around here, but again, I’m a worry-wart) and partially for the bunnies (b/c I thought they’d be more comfortable knowing that nothing could get them from the top). We also brought their bungalo in case they wanted to hide and a bunch of hay so they wouldn’t get upset tummies from too much grass. We don’t use pesticides and the three houses around us are renters so I doubt they do. Plus we are completely fenced in from the neighbors.
They both seemed to love it! Neither acted scared by any noises (not like they do when the vacuum or blender goes). Both seemed really comfortable actually! An ambulance went by and neither even seemed to notice. I did get worried they were eating too much grass (I’ve never given them fresh grass) so I clipped off some of the herbs I’ve been growing to distract them. I was encouraging them to poop everywhere since they do that in my house, but I did not see one single bunny poop!
They were so dang cute! We kept them out for about 30-45 minutes and play Polish Golf while they hopped around. Hubby would like a bigger enclosure to see some binkies, but we’ll see. Once might be enough for this worry wart bunny momma!
On to the cute pictures I promised!
Pumpkin liked to sit in the bungalow and nibble on grass.
