I have a little girl bunny who sadly now has to move outside, she is currently in her house cage in the garage. I try and go out there as much as possible as when she was in the house she was around people a lot now she is by herself.

I just had a few questions if anyone can help!

Since moving she isnt eating and drinking as much, she is a bit just less than usual, taken her to vets twice and they said she is healthy. what would people say is a ‘normal’ amount to eat and drink for a pretty small rabbit? I am also planning on trying to bond her with another rabbit so she isn’t lonely, has anyone got any suggestions on the best way to do this? I was planning on getting her a friend through the RSPCA as they help with bonding and stuff.

Just concerned about her, if I could have her inside I would but sadly cannot. Any advice would be great, thanks.

I don’t think you should get another rabbit at this point. I understand that you don’t want your current bunny to be lonely, but as you know already, housing rabbits outside is not exactly suitable due to many reasons, one of which you’ve already mentioned: it’s hard to find the time to get out there and give them the attention and interaction they need and deserve from you. Putting a second rabbit in this situation that you already know is less than ideal, is unfair to the rabbit. Besides, no reputable rescue would allow you to adopt one of their bunnies if you’re just going to put it outside with another bun that you don’t have time for as it is.

I’m sorry, I know this isn’t what you wanted to hear. Would you mind telling us why your girl can’t stay inside anymore? Maybe we can help you find a solution that will allow you to keep her indoors.

Hi Tessa! I agree with everything Hazel said.

I’m not sure exactly how much food is “normal” for any rabbit. I think it just really varies. I’d be more concerned that you have noticed she’s eating less because that’s not “normal” for her. Does that make sense? How is her poop? Is she pooping a lot and is it normal sized?

I’m sure you care about this sweet little girl so much or you wouldn’t have posted here! Do you think you’ll be able to bring her back inside at some point?
