My bun (BunBun Lebowski), is almost a year old, and recently in the past 1-2 months I’ve noticed an increase in her shedding. It seems to be almost constant near her lower back. I groom her daily. She doesn’t overly groom herself. Her habits are normal and consistent. I’m just kinda wondering , is it normal and because she’s pretty much mature now?

She’s a New Zealand Black Rabbit, Under a year old, and fixed.

I’m posting an image to give you guys a brief idea of what we’re going through. This is what’s going on shortly after I’ve even groomed her 20 minutes prior. But she’s not balding! lol. It’s just odd. Plus where she is mostly is moderately cool, tends to get warm if the folks up and change the temperature of the house without thinking…Lol.

That looks like normal shed, and bunnies do tend to have their thickest fur in that area, so that may be her normal shed pattern. We groom our lops daily and the most loose fur definitely comes from the same area, especially this timevof year.

Shedding in general is just an odd thing. I remember a full month of Pumpkin shedding and it felt like no end in sight and like you I couldn’t figure out where all this hair was coming from!! But then she stopped and didn’t start again for 6 months!

I groom my bunnies pretty much everday. Sometimes it’s just a little bit of fur, sometimes an insane amount (during a molt). Some bunnies seem to shed pretty much constantly. It really varies on hair type and from bunny to bunny.
