Hi all, thought I would post a message to introduce myself. My names Ben, and yesterday me and partner purchased our first bunny. He’s around 8 weeks old I was told by the pet store. His cage is all set up, and he is eating well. Still very shy, but to be expected I imagine after only 24 hours??? Yet to be able to stroke him, or get him to take food from my hand. Is there anything I should know about the first few days, and how I could make him more confident, un-nerve him a little 🙂

Oh and the little ones name is Mr Buns

Big Welcome to you and Mr. Buns.

Try not to handle him unless necessary. Sit on the floor while he is out and let him come to you. Let him sniff your hand before petting and always approach from the side, not the top since that’s how a predator approaches. Make sure he has a hidey house (upside down box with holes in it works great) where he can have privacy.

Would love to see pics of him.

Morning, so I was off from work yesterday and managed to get to spend some great time with Mr. Buns. He came to my hand sniffing around, and over the course of a few hours, he was taking a few pellets from my hand and lay down and let me stroke him, which he seems to enjoy. He has come out of himself a lot, and even had a bit of a mad half hour last night, jumping and hoping around (which I read to be a good thing). He has a hide in his cage, and then another in the playpen attachment, but he is still nervous and yet to explore the play area part hehe. I have many pictures of course, but I have no idea how to put them onto the thread lol
