Hi ! So I had gotten Leona Bunny off pellets and just on a diet of fresh vegetables/greens and hay. For her birthday last week I bought he a bag of pellets to start to incorporate it into her diet (the pellets are like crack to her she loves them lol). But since then her poops have been less and small and black, so I gave it a couple of days and they stayed the same. (I’m pretty sure little black poops means too much protein & not enough fiber.) So I stopped give her the pellets and now her poops like like coco puffs again (healthy) .. I was wondering if there’s any way I could incorporate them into her diet at all?

Just because she loves them so much, but if it’s going to negatively affect her health then she’ll just have to suck it up lol.

If anyone knows about this / has any ideas please let me know

Since her diet is mainly veggies and hay, maybe the pellets could be her treats?

hmm, that’s a good suggestion Thank you..It’s probably healthier for her on the “non-pellet diet” anyway right?

As long as she’s getting a good variety of at least 10 different healthy veggies and a good quanyity of those veggies every day, a no pellet diet can be very healthy. The pellets make up the nutrients that aren’t gotten by such a diet with buns that don’t or can’t handle that amount of greens. One of my bunnies has a sensitive tummy and can only handle a small salad one time a day so pellets are important for him.

Using pellets as treats, or even putting pellets in a treat ball, is a good way to incorporate a limited amount of pellets in the diet.

Not much, I have this little heart bowl that I fill with pellets, it’s meant to put a tee light in.
