        Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster!

I have a neutered female bun of about 3 years, and we’ve decided to find her a handsome husbun. We have spoken to various shelters and rescue centres near where we are, and have found a great one who will help with the bonding process and offer a dating service to help find the right bun.

Looking on their site at available bunnies, a lot of the males are around the 8 month old mark (although they are all neutered). We had assumed we’d have to get a bun of a similar age to ours to make the bonding process easier- is that definitely the case? There doesn’t seem to be a great deal of male buns the same age as ours about, and we definitely would like to rescue one.

        Any advice would be appreciated!

I am in basically the exact same position. My female three year old bunny is soon going to be bonded with an 8 month old male from our local rescue. I was unsure about the age difference but after speaking to my vet and the people working at the rescue centre I believe it is totally fine to bond them. I was told ago shouldn’t make much difference as they are both neutered and it is possible to bond rabbits of different ages and sizes successfully.

I agree. Age shouldn’t matter as long as they are both fixed and given time for their hormones to settle.

I once bonded a 10 year old male rabbit to a 1 year old (or less) female rabbit that we found on the street. You can’t get much more of an age difference than that, and they bonded very easily. They only had 2 years together, before my male passed away, but they really loved each other. Her love and care was a big help to him as he got older and started having mobility and sight problems.
