Do they stay out there at night as well? it looks nice but I worry a predator could dig in, they could dig out or something could tear though the mesh, is it chicken wire?

raccoons are stronger than you might think and VERY smart. Raccoons were actually what came to mind first.

I have heard of raccoons tearing through chicken wire.

Raccoons etc dig and also chew through a surprising amount of fencing. Including your chicken wire. We have a chicken coop that has steel mesh on the surround and horse fencing on the floor – if anything were to dig under the frame theyd have to dig upward through the fence to swat and the chickens, which will be hiding/roosting on the 2nd story already, but could not get through. Can you bring them inside at night? Whether they are in or out at night, seriously consider the heavy duty mesh or other more sturdy covering. There are scratches on the exterior of the chicken coop from coons looking for a way in.

Coons will chew through chicken wire AND dig a hole to get at their prey. Can you bring them in at night? Our chicken coop is covered in steel mesh and has horse fencing on the floor, there is also a 2nd floor. If something were to dig a hole under the exterior wall, it would have to lay on its back to swat at the chickens, but could not get through the horse fencing. By that time the chickens will be on the 2nd story to roost or hide.
