        Hi!

I have noticed that I am quite allergic to timothy hay. I already knew this before getting my bunny as I previously had guinea pigs as a child but I think my allergy to timothy hay has gotten worse over the years. What are some alternative types of hay that I can try out in place of timothy hay? I think I read there was a hay called orchard hay that was better for people with allergies? It’s a little hard for me to gauge exactly how allergic I am because it’s spring and my allergies are already quite bad from all of the pollen in the air. Does anyone else deal with hay allergies and how do you manage them?

Orchard grass hay is probably the most popular alternative to timothy, but oat hay, brome, and meadow grass hay are also good options. We make a mix of orchard and timothy and toss in some oat hay at times. We use the oat hay tops as treats since they are higher in calories.
