        Please please help. If anyone can offer me any kind of comfort or answers that would be great. My husband was holding little Gus and felt a weird patch on his back. We found this horrible furless patch of skin right around where we’ve been giving him his injections of Pen G .22 mls every other day. It’s not oozing like it appears to be in the photo, we put some bag balm on it to soothe the dry, irritated skin. I’m just so upset that the vets i’ve been to have been no help at all, I feel like I’m going crazy because no one can help me woth my sweet boy. He’s just so litle I’m so worried about him. His little face is clearing up from his last bout with the Syphillus, his boy parts are clean, but now this patch on his little back. Please help! He’s happy and still himself. I just feel so bad.

          Hm, It could be a reaction to something in the PenG or just a general reaction to ongoing injections in that area.

            OK first thing is to stay calm, I know that is easier said than done, obviously the vet gave you the pen, so if you contact another vet, explain the problem, it could be like dry blood like when we have injections, just stay calm and call them, maybe they could give him an alternative to help, balm bag is great for eczema and psoriasis of the skin, I need to get some more for my hands, it safe for animals too, but I would call another vet if you are not happy with the one you have, sorry I cannot be much help but it could be infected and need antibiotic cream or tablets, or even a different brand of injection.

              Thank you for the reassurance. I saw a spider by one of his favorite laying spots and thought that it could have been that, but my husband said it wasn’t a poisonous one. I will call the vet first thing tomorrow. I know it’s not dried blood because all the fur directly on top of the scab has fallen out, though there’s stil several layers of fur hiding it from plain view.

                OMG SPIDERS! Hate them, I live in the UK I know how nasty they can get, people think ours don’t bite but they do, 3 times I’ve been bitten, and months of antibiotics, one was on the curtain which I use to cover my rabbits cage, I just said to my rabbit “Oh dear a spider.” and knocked it off and hit it with a slipper and hit it that hard its no longer a spider, I’ve never liked spiders and Aracnophobic, but if its not poisonous they can still bite, all spiders bite, I would still mention that to the vet, I got bitten years ago by a Guinea Pig and we know they are not poisonous but I had a reaction, inflamed skin, again antibiotics, but all spiders carry venom to kill their prey, so stay calm keep an eye on Gus, if he has a seizure or goes off his food, stay calm and get on the phone to the vet, even if its 3 in the morning.

                  How many more pen G shots does he need?
                  You could try give the remaining ones in a different location like the rump area. Massaging the spot well after subQ injection.

                  {{{Gus}}}
                  It does look rather like irritation from his shots. I hope it heals up soon.

                    He constantly has cylces of the syphillus around his little bunny mouth. So we give him the meds whenever it flares up. He’s doing well, it just looks really nasty and painful. I hate spiders as well. We’re getting the outside of our house sprayed soon for spiders. Thanks for all the positive thoughts, we’re going to his vet tomorrow. I’ll keep y’all updated. Thanks!

                      It’s unusual it doesn’t completely heal up given that he’s on PenG.
                      How long were you instructed to give it each time?

                      Apparently it’s the combo PenG (benzathine / procaine) that is most effective.

                        We think he has an immune system difficency. It basically flares up and we give him the medication. We’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to help him and figure out what’s going on inside his body. We’re headed to the vet in about an hour. We’ll see what they have to say, if anything.
