I am brand new to owning bunnies. Right now I have a lop named Tiff and a lion head named Gimli. I bought them from Petland and got most of the information from them on how to take care of them. They said all we needed was Timothy hay and young rabbit pellets. I just found out I was to be feeding them alfalfa hay to help them grow. They are five months old right now and I have had them since they were 2 months.

So my questions are: is it okay to totally switch them to alfalfa hay now until they are 7 months? And second, have I ended up stunting their growth and health by not feeding them alfalfa hay?

        Thank you for your feedback!

        Jen

Young rabbit pellets are made from alfalfa so there’s no problem, esp since you’re feeding them lots of pellets due to their age.
You can switch hay but it’s not needed. Alfalfa is tastier so they will be picky when you gradually switch back too.

Nope, what you are doing is just fine and keep doing it – the young rabbit pellets are made of alfalfa. Not at all stunting growth.

One source of alfalfa is good for a growing bun. If you’re using young bunny formula (alfalfa-based) pellets, then timothy hay is just fine.
