A while ago (the year before last i believe) i had made a thread about how my dwarf bunny Tenshi and my new tabby Jamie were getting use to each other but not quite there. Now things are different, but its almost hard to believe. Tenshi actually binkies when Jamie is around! I will let the two of them out together (supervised and nails trimmed) and they have very weird encounters. Tenshi will often jump, hop, and run, trying to get Jamie’s attention, even purposely putting his rump in his face.Jamie will run up to him (which scares me, but does not seem to phase the rabbit) and sniff him, paw his ears, and lick his face.I can tell that the rabbit will get frustrated with Jamie because the cat does not fully grasp what Tenshi wants, which is usually some sort of lick or nuzzling. The rabbit has been known to nip Jamie on the behind on occassion which makes him cautious of the rabbit. However the two of them usually go through the same routine of sniffing, laying down, some licks on the cats part, and Tenshi nipping the cat if he isnt participating as much as Tenshi wants him to. Jamie usually does nothing when he nips him, or just moves a little bit away and tries to figure out what the rabbit is trying to do. Tenshi will either go back into his cage and start over, or try to nuzzle the cat. It surprises me, because Tenshi has never been so calm and patient with anyone before. I never would have expected him to take anyone under his watch, let alone a peaceful goofball like my cat Jamie.

I wanted to get some opinions on their situation. Ive read in cat-rabbit bondings that some of this is normal, like the rabbit taking charge. However id like some comments on how i could improve their situation, or if im missing something.

My cat was raised with the bunny. Koga, the cat loves his big brother ( age, not size mind you) Meko the bunny. Meko can be a bit of a jerk to his kitty bother but there is a real love. If they ate picking at each other, grooming each other, or playing tag around the house then some thing off.

Every once and a while Koga gets a scab or two from Meko being a brat. And Koga not as innocent as he plays to be baiting his brother and rightly letting the bunny have it when Meko just won’t leave him be.

Cat and bunnies seem to be a good mix from my two babies. Then again I think Koga thinks he is a rabbit.
