Hi there, I decided to join because I plan to be getting a rabbit in the new future but I also want to share some things.

I recent been pet sitting two cute female rabbits for a friend. I’ve had them since a few days before Easter so a month and 1 week so far. These two rabbits are so much fun, and I firmly believe that let therapy can be really affective. I can sit there and let theme, watch them and play with them for hours if I was ever afforded the time.

I’ve tried to gain as much knowledge as I can from various sources onine but, the Internet is vast with many opinions.

Now to my main point, Im a sensitive person naturally, I’m not talking about crying. Just that my empathy for things and animals is a lot higher than normal. I work on average 8-10 hour days and I do my best to give these rabbits time out of their cage. They unfortunately don’t get along together but they have each other since their cages are right next to each other. When I get home from work I give them an hour of time to run around and play , I am right with them and encouraging them to chase me and run. Just today got one of them to chase a baby carrot I was holding. The other rabbit is very affectionate, loves to be touched and loves to lick me. When ever it’s time to feed them she never is waiting for me to drop the food in her bowl so she can go crazy for it , but rather she likes to hope out of her cage into my lap and just wants to be held and feel secure. In whish case I hold and let her for about 5 minutes and then I need to get ready for work(this is before work) but every time when I feed her , she does this. Except…. when I give them some banana
        They love bananas.

Now, I might be over analyzing this, but I feel so bad for them being in a cage and only let out for 1 hour every day is like a prison. They are use to me now and in 1 more week I will be returning them unfortunately. I love them already. I’m concerned that the drastic change for them again will harm them. On the bright side, they will be going back to their owner and will have more time to run around and over a larger area. I section off a certain area but it’s still enough for them to run. I try to keep them occupied mentally. Could I leave a TV on for them ?

I really hope these two can be happy because they are honestly amazing an animals. I’ve never had a pet like them before and Im already attached to them and shown them a lot of affection too. I want them to feel happy and lived too. But sometimes when I see them in their cages i feel bad
. I would want them to be free , just like how I would.

Anyways , sorry for adding so much but I just thought I’d share my feelings.

        Have a good one.

Welcome!! Sounds like you are having lots of fun and they sound like really nice rabbits.

In answer to your questions-they should adjust fine to the move back to their owners house. You can leave a TV on for them, I often had for Kokanee who would get bored during the day and then keep me up all night -it worked to keep her awake during the day and sleep at night.
