        Hello!

My bunny, Fritz, has been having an off & on watery eye in his right eye. I’ve taken him to the vet 2x. Once last year, they flushed the eye out & gave me an antibiotic ointment. This recent time in April I  went, they did the same thing but told me if it comes back again, that they may have to invesigate further which sounded like they may have to put him under. Well, today I noticed his eye was watery again! His tears have always been clear & they checked his teeth both times. He eats & poops normally. The hay they currently have is quite dusty b/c it wasn’t a great batch. Could it be caused from this? Could he have allergies? I don’t want to put him (or myself!) through the possibly unecessary stress of being put under.

How old is Fritz? It might be a good idea to do a head radiograph.  And it would be a good idea to get specifics from the vet instead of just wondering :~)  Putting him under anesthesia may be necessary – my rabbit goes under anesthesia every 3 months for dentals.

Fritz is around 2 years old. That makes me feel a little better that your bun goes under anesthesia every 3 months & does fine with it. His eye is thankfully looking a lot better these past few days since I posted. It appears back to normal. He may have gotten something in it? I keep checking it everyday though to be sure though & will make an apt with the vet again if it comes back. Thank you for your advice!
