        Hi everyone!

I usually watch movies with my bunny, while  he sleeps on my stomach. I pet him, he purrs and everything is nice, BUT recently I’ve noticed that Gustav is trying to chew my hair, repeatedly. Is he just combing it or is he eating it? I try to prevent him from doing that, because I dye my hair (it’s a vegetable based semi, but a hair dye nonetheless). I thought that maybe it smelled nice, but he tried to chew it even when it’s greasy

How old is your bunny? Younger bunnies tend to chew on things.

The only time one of my buns chewed on my hair was when I used “Yes to Blueberries” shampoo.

Well, he is 1 year and 3 months old. He does like to chew stuff, but not necessarily everything. I think I started to use Schwarzkopf Bonacure rose oil shampoo….well, anyhow, hair is off limits, because it’s dyed. I guess it’s back to actual rose buds and pak choi, poor little bunny

I could be the change in smell and he thinks it’s yummy or he is just trying to groom you. Have you observed him actually swallowing hair?

My Yohio chewed my hair when he was younger. It was in the mornings when he wanted to wake me up. He was chewing it, I could hear it. Hair may remind a bunny of hay? I don’t know. He stopped after I repeatedly removed him from my pillow. I don’t dye my hair but I don’t want bangs, so I couldn’t let him go on =) Now he licks my cheek or my hands when he wants to wake me up.

I’m guessing it’s some kind of grooming-behavior. You should try and redirect it so he licks your skin instead.

Bramble tries to eat my hair too. I always thought it was because my hair is dark blonde and he mistakes it for hay.

It could be the smell, because sometimes he gets hair-crazy, especially if he can get to the top of my head. I’ve got long hair(a bit past my shoulder-blades), and unfortunately, I’ve got bangs and some layers, so it’s quite hard to tell if he is just grooming it or swallowing it as well. But still, probably best to keep him out, although now I know what he thinks of my brushing skills. Good to know that it’s not highly unusual…
I noticed that he is crazy about any type of fur – I have a jacket with fake fur collar that I can’t get him off of, he even sighs while chewing and grooming it. Krystol, Bam – who knows, maybe Bramble, Yohio and Klimt were hairdressers in their past lives. Maybe Yohio thought that you are in a dire need of bangs

Mine don’t chew my hair, but if I’m laying on the floor and doze off, any one of them will come over and pull my hair. Marlee will also try to take my glasses off whether they’re on my face or on top of my head.

Went to the vet today for a one week check on Moshi’s eye. Vet said its doing great. He has one spot left but the corneal ulcer is healing nicely thank goodness. We go back on the 15th for another eye check for Moshi and another urinalysis for Marlee. Really hoping for some vet-free time after that! Both exotic vets, a few of the techs, and all 6 receptionists all know us now. Definitely should have those frequent buyer punch cards where every 7th purchase is free.
