        Hello all,

This may seem like a very odd request, but I’m not entirely sure what to do.

I have a job that’s seasonal by nature, during the winter I’m doing mostly office work but from May-Sept I will be living in a perma-camp Mon-Fri. Now, I have access to awesome, super cheap housing for the weekends, which is great because it’d kinda suck to rent an apartment I’m never in.

Downside: other people are starting to move into the housing for the season and something’s come up and I’ve been told I need to get my rabbits OUT!

The landlord was really nice about it and gave me some time to figure something out, but something needs to happen.

Now, I could move my rabbits into the office or my boss’s garage, or make them a hutch and take them to field camp. But they’re used to human interaction & free run time (which they wouldn’t really get in the office or garage) and they’ve never been outdoors & we camp in a national forest, so there’s obvious safety & care issues associated with that.

Obviously, I would love to have my rabbits near me and give them all the love and attention they usually get, but the summer requires changes. I was going to get a friend to watch them during the week originally, but obviously that’s out now.

Because none of the other options are really ideal I thought I would ask around rabbit-friendly communities to see if anyone was interested in or knew someone who would be interested in having “temporary rabbits” living with them from May to September, when I’ll be in a better position to change my living situation.

Betty & Dupree are 8 month old neutered males, they’re well socialized & warm up to strangers pretty quickly when salad is involved. They’re litter trained (90-95% success rate), and we’ve even done some clicker training so they sort of come when called & stand up on command.

I am NOT putting them up for adoption. Just looking for a four month home for them. I would provide all their supplies, including their cage (which has about 4ft by 2ft footprint). I would also work out a monthly compensation for anyone who was willing to do this. Think of it as bunny rent.

Additionally, if you have pets or want to take a trip over the summer I would be available to house/pet sit on weekends, if that’s something you’d be interested in.

I live near Vancouver, WA and would be willing to take my bunnies 1-2 hours from there to the right sitter.

Please let me know if you or any families you know of are interested. I’d be willing to work with children as well, families who want to understand what having a rabbit is like before fully committing to one, but only if the primary caregiver was high school age at least, for my own peace of mind and because Dupree needs a weekly shot of penicillin (though he’s incredibly chill about getting it).

Thank you for your help! Sorry if this isn’t an appropriate place to post this, but I thought I would try. I love my bunnies & don’t want to give them up or put them in a situation that feels like they’re in storage over the summer.

         Cheers,

         BunnyBeth

My cousin and I would LOVE to! But we don’t live anywhere near you. I’m sorry, but you will probably not find a sitter here.
