        Hi all!

I’m new here and new to bunnies as well! I will be bringing home my first bunny in 1-2 weeks. I’m very excited! I still need to come up with a name but my girl is a black and white mini rex. She’s super cuddly. My friend breeds rabbits so I am getting her from there so I have lots of help available when I need it. I have some questions about pellets though. I am the proud owner of five birds and a couple of horses. I feed the best feed I can afford as I believe proper nutrition is VERY important. I plan to feed my bunny to the best of my abilities. My friend buys her pellets at the feed store. While doing research I’ve noticed there are plenty of other brands at pet stores, many claiming to have different nutritional contents. This is one of the stores that I buy my bird supplies from. As you’ll see, they also have some rabbit supplies including pellets. Is it important to buy one of these pellets or is a basic ‘rabbit food/pellet’ sufficient? Here’s the website. http://www.exoticwings.com/shoppe/small-animal-supplies-rabbit-c-470_477.html
I of course know about feeding hay, vegetables and hay cubes. I know that rabbits don’t eat just pellets.
I have never felt nervous when it comes to getting a new pet before but bunnies are totally new to me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

        Thanks

Looking at that link you posted, none of those foods look to be high quality. I’m really not familiar with that brand (are you outside of the US?), but when looking for a rabbit pellet, you want it to be a plain pellet with no added “junk” (seeds, nuts, cereal pieces, crispy things, dried stuff), JUST plain brown pellets. You can feed alfalfa based pellets for young rabbits (under 6 months to a year old), timothy based pellets after that.

The Martins’ Little Friend is something I’ve fed before and my guys liked it. It’s made in Canada if I recall correctly. Just make sure it’s the timothy based pellet. It is a good pellet.

Oxbow is one that is a favorite here by many members and is really high quality as well. When I first got rabbits it wasn’t available in Alberta, but now I can find it nearly everywhere.
