        Hey all,

So like a bad bunny dad, I just realized today I am out of Oxbow Baby rabbit pellets and need a new bag. So I traveled to every petco and petssmart within 30 miles of my apartment, only to find NO ONE carries it. How ridiculous is that? Only adult rabbit pellets. The only place I got it before was the vet clinic I purchased her from nearly an hour away which is such a hassle. Now I could purchase it on amazon and have it delivered by Friday (2 days from now), but that of course means she may go up to 24 hours (more likely only 12 but worst case 24) without baby pellets, but I can give her unlimited alfalfa hay for that period. So can Lilith (3 months 3 weeks old) go up to 24 hours with pellets? If I need to Ill drive the hour, but gah, I would like to celebrate graduation at this graduation party tomorrow afternoon .

She should be fine — switching pellets should be done gradually so you may do more harm by switching pellets than you would by withholding for a little while. Just get some ASAP.

If she’s eating alfalfa hay, you’re fine with timothy pellets. We did the opposite and used junior pellets (alfalda) and timothy hay (vet suggested we do this). My lops have been on timothy hay since we got them at 8 – 9 weeks.

Has she been introduced to veggies yet? I would say just feed her hay and veggies (whatever you’ve been giving her) and she will be fine for a day.

Lilith Current Diet: Oxbow Baby Rabbit Pellets (unlimited), Hay (unlimited mostly timothy but I like to give her alfalfa as a treat so she gets used to both), and then some greens because she is still so young, but not much more than a few pieces of lettuce.

Situation: I have 0 pellets on hand now. She has enough for maybe another day at best (tomorrow Thursday until midnight at best). I would not get more pellets until Friday around noon-3. So she could be without pellets that long. Is that ok, or should I drive and get them tomorrow.

Sorry if its not so coherent, I celebrated a bit tonight with Apple Crown

I would just stretch what you have left of pellets out, even if that means giving her less than she normally gets. Then make sure she has plenty of hay to much on and throw in some lettuce if that is what you have been giving her.

HAHA! Apple Crown! Delicious! I agree with LBJ — just stretch out the pellets a bit.

I would caution against switching to timothy (sorry JR!) without being able to do so gradually. It can wreck havoc on some buns stomachs if they are sensitive!

If you have enough through Thursday night and you’d have more by noon on Fri, I wouldn’t worry at all. Like the others said, just make sure she had plenty of hay.

BTW, I buy a new bag of pellets as soon as I open a bag so that I always have a bag on hand and don’t have to worry. I keep the unopened bag of pellets in a dark bag in the bunny room closet.

We do that as well, JR!

Thanks everyone, I went forward with the purchase, and will hopefully just give her spaced out pellets. Who knows, maybe she will come around a bit more now that I am spacing it out!
