My rabbit is three years old, we only just got him recently and the previous owner said he was a great bunny and never bit her. since I got him he is non stop biting me, he has a big cage to run around he gets let out for a bit to run around the house. I thought the biting might stop after he got used to his new house, its been over a month now and no change, He was neutered the other day thinking that might calm him down a bit but as soon as I let him out of the cage he jumps up on me and bites hard. He gets along fine with my boyfriend and everyone else that comes into my house he only bites me. I don’t know what to do. any suggestions?

You need to give it more time for the hormones to balance out. It will take a month or more for you to see a change. And you shouldn’t let him run around and jump if he just got fixed. The stitching might come undone. Do you handle him often? A lot of rabbits don’t like being held like a baby doll would be held. They are ground animals. Does your rabbit nudge you before he bites? A nudge might mean ‘move out of my way or else”. My rabbit does this to my mom because she doesn’t understand rabbit language.

The only time I pick him up is when someone is coming in or out of the house cause I don’t want him to run out and to pick him up and put him in his cage. He doesn’t nudge me before he bites. He could be on one side of the room and I’ll be on the other and if I bend over to pick something up he will run at my hand.

Is he nipping for attention? Also he is neutered and could still be moody, its takes time to settle, my Olly is neutered and very territorial about his cage, he will stop soon I know, he was only neutered in March, no need to panic I think your bunny needs time like mine, Olly hasn’t bitten me but does not mean he won’t, have you tried giving your bunny some greens or fruit to hand feed him to let him get to know you? Some rabbits bite for attention which they learned from the last owner, its like with a toddler he does wrong you give him a treat, he does it again you treat them, if it is that do you have a pair of thick old gloves so if he bites he won’t hurt you and learn that being naughty gets him nowhere? Also if you are picking something up off the floor is it something of his? Like a piece of cardboard or newspaper he was playing with and claimed as his? Because territorial bunnies do this, its like. “Hey that’s mine!” I’m sure he will calm down soon.

My boy was fine before his neuter — for a week after he constantly charged and bit me. Give him some time for his hormones to settle down. They can definitely be in hiatus.

Ok, i’ll be the bearer of bad news, I got Patrick neutered in the end of december of 2014, he just recently started mellowing out in april, i’m not saying your bun will be like that, but it does take time, if you follow my post on Patrick attacking me, you’ll see the updates.
