Hey everyone, this seems to be a good place for bunny lovers so I figured I should join

My girlfriend and I picked up our first bunny (for now..) the end of march past. apparently still too young to determine the gender so we have 2 names lined up, Hera or Rocket (10 points to whoever gets the reference of those names!) our little albino Netherlands dwarf fur baby was born on the 3rd of February and has been with us since the 31st of march. Hasn’t been spayed or neutered (yet) however our vet recommends if female nothing be done as it’s supposedly a risky operation. our bunny has a unique personality, energetic one minute, lazing another, climbing on stuff the next. it’s never a dull moment, let’s just put it that way.

as for me/us, I’m a student taking welding and part time with the Army here and Amanda (Mom) is currently in the midst of taking oilfield/construction technical and safety courses. we chose a bunny because it just felt like it was missing. pretty spot on! i’ll try and remember my photobucket so I can post some pictures of the baby

ps. I cheated and googled those names and get the reference.

Welcome! Can’t wait to see pics of your furbaby!

On spaying, you might want to find a rabbit savvy vet to take your bunny to, especially if female. Female buns have a very high risk (80%) of uterine cancer and really need to be spayed. An exotics vet with plenty of bunny knowledge and experience can do the surgery and minimize risks.

Ah, emailing as we speak and i’ll be making calls in the morning. I wasn’t advised of that statistic by my vet 😐 there’s only 3 hospitals around here, and the other 2 don’t indicate directly they deal with bunnies. so we might be packing up for a road trip in the not to distant future
