I have had my spayed, 1 year old dutch rabbit for about 7 months now. She is having a lot of trouble with litter training. She is ok with pee(about 2 or 3 puddles outside of her litterbox in a couple of days) but she’s pretty bad about keeping her poo inside of the box. I usually let her have free range of my room but no further. I have had her back in her cage because she peed on my bed about a month ago, only out when I can supervise. She poops on my bed a lot but I don’t really mind the poop. She usually doesn’t poop or pee outside of the cage much unless it’s on my bed. I started to trust her more and then I let her free for a while I was reading and then I smelled pee. I looked all over my room and when I couldn’t find any I sat back down to find that a huge pee puddle was right next to me in my bed. I don’t know why she does this. I cleaned it well last time but is it possible that there were still traces?

Very very common problems even with altered rabbits as your bed smell the most like you and therefore, all you can do is what you are doing…has nothing to do with litter training.

It’s possible. A 50/50 mix of white vinegar/water should take care of any lingering scent. It’s also possible that the bed just smells like you and she’s marking it, or its just soft and bunnies like to pee on soft things. Best just to keep her off the bed.

My son let Kieko on his bed once. We were all amazed how much pee a 3 lb bunny who doesn’t drink much could produce! Needless to say, no bunnies on beds in our house!

Thanks guys! How do I keep her off of my bed? She loves being up there and does most of her binkies on my bed… I don’t lift her up onto my bed, she hops onto it herself…

Pumpkin went through a phase of peeing on the couch. We just constantly shooed her off and would sit down on the floor with her to pet her and give her a treat. I think she started to learn that good things happen on the floor and nothing fun happens on the couch. She hardly ever hops up there now even though I wouldn’t it mind it since she stopped the constant peeing!
