Have Dobby, my 1 year+ spayed Dutch and Marley 1 yr non spayed female Mini Rex. Marley has been with us for a couple of months now. They seem to be getting along fine. They challenge each other to see who can push me the furthest. Dobby has really been tested since she was the queen bee. Marley tries her darndest to get the best of her and loves all and any attention. Dobby had her “room” of which she shared with my daughter on her breaks from school. She was litter trained and was a very clean bunny. She has really done real well with her chewing and limits any digging to the 3 dig boxes that are in her room and living area. Now Marley. . . Marley. . .that’s a whole different game! I’ve had to litter train Marley and, in turn, Dobby again. It’s really been a battle. I have litter boxes in both open cages, another in he room and in the living room. She will use all of them and then have a poop war on my Daughter’s bed, in any open corner and next to each of the litter boxes. I am vacuuming 3xs a day just in their room! I’m at wit’s end! AND the carpet chewing has started again! I’ve tried every spray and concoction I can think of. I have even laid down plexiglass around the exposed edges in their room (which has at least helped the edges)
They get along. They often jump into each others cage just to check out if either as something the other doesn’t or to sniff the litter box. Their cages are positioned out of a corner with their supply tub separating them so, they’re not next to each other. They are put in their separate cages to eat and when I clean the room. They are each let out of their room individually for an hour at a time and then together in the evening for a few hours and they even venture out onto the balcony! They chase each other then snuggle together and groom each other. Any suggestions?? I understand occasion happy poops but, ecstatically happy poop storms????
Additional stuff- Litter boxes are medium cat size filled with a natural non scented litter topped with 2 different hays.
Each cage also has a rack filled with hay and a small bowl of pellets ( they both eat about 1/2-3/4 cup a day)
They get a variety “salad” twice a day. Salads are about 1-1/2 cup of a type of lettuce, cilantro, kale, baby broccolli, carrots, spinach, dandelion, parsley and any other greens I can introduce. they never get all this together and I limit certain greens. They both also get a slice of banana at night and I hide a couple of craisins or raisins in their boxes and tubes before I leave for work in the a.m.
