        Hello,

My question is do rabbits get satiated or bored with their food?

Typically, my daily salad for Flopsie consists of 2 to 3 leaves of green leaf lettuce (depending on size of leaf), 2 to 3 leaves of romaine lettuce, handful of italian parsley, handful of cilantro, and one “premium” veggie on rotation.

So I always buy the 4 base veggies because they are cheap and I get one more expensive one on rotation for variety (e.g., dandelion greens, carrot tops, radish tops, green kale, italian kale, endive, etc.).

Recently, i’ve noticed that she’ll gobble up the parsley, cilantro, and the other veggie on rotation, but she tends to leave the lettuces alone.  If I leave her alone, she will eventually eat it up but not always all of it.

Are rabbits like humans and get tired of certain foods?

I think that mine don’t necessarily get sick of the same things, but they do get excited about something new. I’ve never seen mine not eat everything in sight though (unless its something they really don’t like).

You could always rotate out a staple now and then to get them excited about lettuce and romaine again!

I get angry stares if there isn’t kale in the daily salad. I’m in Canada, kale isn’t easy to find in the winter… Chester eats better than I do.

Romaine is also a staple and I’ve never seen Chester get tired of it. The other stuff I rotate, and he does get considerably more variety during the summer! And he does get tired of cilantro & parsley if he eats it too often.

I think so. At least mine will seem unenthusiastic if I try to give them the same thing. That’s why I like the spring mix, there is tons of variety in there.

Hmm ok. Thanks for the feedback. That gives me an idea that I should try to rotate more.

And BubblesJo, my bun definitely eats better than me!

Mine are opposite, they freak out when I change up. Like Bubbles, kale is a MUST.

Mine excitedly eat any salad put in front of them, even Moshi who will only get green leaf lettuce for days on end when he starts to get mushy poops. I’m guessing it depends on the bunny.

You all treat your rabbits with the veggies! I only buy one or two kinds of veggies, switch them back and forth through out the time until they are gone. Maybe I should start feeding her more of a “salad” and do the rotation thing.
