I tried picking her up and getting all the poop off the inside her legs (it seems to be smashed into her fur) but she won’t sit still long enough for me to do this and I’m afraid I’m going to hurt her if I restrain her too hard. She’s almost 9 weeks old. Whats the best way to go about this without completely freaking her out and/or hurting her? Thanks in advance!

          Hi Sabrina,

Check out this link from rabbit savvy biologist Dr. Dana Krempels: http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/buttbath.html

Hope that helps! I personally haven’t tried the cornstarch method and have not had a baby bunny but I feel like that might be a good start.

If this is a recurring problem, I would definitely take her to the vet to find out the cause of the mushy poos.

The thing is, I’m not finding any mushy poos. I find cecals in the morning and thats it. I gave her a dry bath/butt bath with an inch of water just on her legs and that got it off but again today after work I came home and she has some more on her hind legs. She is potty trained for the most part and I don’t ever see any mushy poo other than cecals. She loves to lay/sit in her litter box so I’m wondering if thats part of the issue? Or maybe what I’m using in her litter box?  If it keeps up, I’ll definitely take her into the vet.

Any thoughts/advice would be helpful!! Thanks in advance!

It could be that she is leaving cecals in her litter box, then laying or sitting on them. It also could be that she is doing some mushy poos due to her diet, and that they are sticking to her right away, which is why you aren’t seeing any in other places. Does she eat a lot of hay? At her young age, she should have unlimited pellets, but she also needs to eat a lot of hay to make her have good poops.

Yes, she gets unlimited hay & pellets. She seems to like the pellets more so she definitely eats more pellets than she does hay.
