‘Selected flats’ are being checked for water temperature this week (this happens once a month) and on Thursday our fire extinguisher is being swapped for a new one.

Usually when we’re expecting some sort of inspection, I cover Mr Roger’s cage when I am out and let him back out when I return and then just plead that I’ve just woken up or am showering if they turn up when he’s out.

This morning I left him covered and shut the curtains to keep the heat out but forgot to open the window and let cool air in (and subsequently spent the whole day worrying about him).

It’s not terribly hot where I live (England) but I don’t want him to overheat like a dog or baby in a car and die. Is there any safe/safer way to hide him and ensure he’s not going to overheat?

I’ve tried to provide him with a frozen water bottle but he just nose bumps it and otherwise avoids it. Help?

I don’t think that will be a problem if he’s indoors – it’s being outdoors that is a big problem where there is no temperature control at all.

The ice bottle will actually cool the area several feet around it.
