  Ruth is sitting in a shelter, recovering from her spay surgery. The vet discovered uterine cancer while doing the procedure, so she is now deemed "unadoptable". We are trying to get her out this week, but we are full. You can read more about her here therabbithaven.org/Ruth_appeal_100307.html

  Gosh this just tears at my heart. I am keeping her in my prayers for that special human to save her and give her a wonderful life.

  Oh my…she is precious! Ruth will be in my prayers, I hope someone will be able to make her a part of thier life.

  I would hate to have to be the one at the shelter making these decisions – I know they don’t like making them but I suppose they must do what they think is best under all circumstances even if we don’t agree :~(
  
  Please let us know if Rabbit Haven finds a home for this beautiful rabbit.

  Funny that you mention that, Sarita. I was watching a web video the other day about a woman who works in a shelter. (It is not for the faint of heart, quite disturbing, go here if you are interested http://www.borntodiepets.com/html/dr_death.htm) She said that she sometimes works in the euth room killing animals, but sometimes she is the one that has to grab a clipboard and walk through the kennels, deciding on who they’d kill that day. She said the choosing was much more emotionally draining than the actual killing, because she has a choice of who lives and who dies. In the euth room, the choice is already made. I read another article about how some shelter workers develop PTSD like cops or soldiers, mostly due to having to hide their emotions and suppress bad feelings at work. Their lives are not easy.

  Osprey, I had never seen that video (until now) but had seen the “Born to Die” one before. They are very powerful videos. Just watching it drained me so I can imagine the stress they must feel day in and day out of performing their job. I agree 100% there lives are not easy – I always try to thank the shelter workers for the jobs they are doing.

  Yes those clips are sad Medinaserpa, I agree. Such tough choices to make but the lack of loving homes for pets brings things down to such situations. Spay or neuter your pet and adopt from shelters!
