I’m customizing a cage for my bunny and need
plywood to make the base. I’m not too sure if it has to be rabbit safe becuase
it will be rabbit proof( covered in vinyl). I’m limited on money and was looking
for a way to save, do you think I should go for the safe, even though they wont
have acess to it, or the cheaper(still safe, but less)? Please look at the
        links, THANKS

When we built Kieko’s condo (3 levels) we used 1/2 inch plywood from Lowe’s and covered it with slightly textured sheet vinyl (a remnant we got from a flooring store). Pretty sure the plywood is pine. The vinyl goes all the way to the edges on top, and the bottom of the plywood is exposed under the top two levels and at the edges of the cutouts for the ramps. The bottom level is surrounded by pine 1×4’s that act as a boarder and cover the outer edges of zip ties where we attached the NIC structure to the bottom level/base. We haven’t had any problems, other than Kieko tugging on the NIC grids to make noise!

Yup, if you’re covering it it should be fine either way. I actually like having an area with pine board exposed that they can safely chew. If it’s part of the structure, they’ll think they’re being bad by chewing it and that makes it all more fun!
