Hi Everyone . I’m new on here but would like some help with my rabbit Peanut.
        Might be best to get a little background about peanuts life ;
Peanut is 2 years old and was given to me by this woman which wasn’t able to look after her anymore . peanut was never let out of her cage or played with . Very shy and scared rabbit . I’ve got peanut for about 2 months now and she is very loved . She is out of her cage money to Friday’s 4 hours aday and weekends she’s out all day as I live her cage door open . Brought her a extra large cage as her cage before was way to small for her .

My question is . How do I get peanut to be playful ? I’ve got toys for her but she doesn’t play with them . She enjoys running around my back garden but after 2 minutes she will be asleep in her cage again .

Also another question . peanut poo’s a lot , I mean a lot . She was be laying down next to me and the next there is a big pile a poo .

Hope some one can help. Thank you

Mr Roger doesn’t play with most toys. He’s previously enjoyed shredding a rabbit bed but seems pretty content with his current one. Otherwise, he’s only really interested in toys if he can eat it. He’s very happy this way and so as long as he’s kept out of destroying me things, I’m happy with it too.

It took many months for him to get the hang of even the first level of this puzzle (there’s 3 – the picture depicts level 2 – his favourite) from Pets at Home – but now he loves to get food out and bang it about. We had to teach him to use it in close approximations – going close to it, touching it, leaving the lid with the food uncovered, lightly covered, lightly more covered, etc.

I was close to giving up on it, in all honesty. After a while, he was able to remove the disc completely by jumping in the right place.

He also uses a treat ball like this:

Only his is two shades of green. He also had to learn to use it in approximations but now loves it. I check every evening to make sure he’s been able to get his pellets out so he doesn’t go hungry.

Very occasionally he will throw about a tube filled with hay but otherwise isn’t interested.

We did make him a castle which he likes to sit in and sometimes renovate. It was a cardboard box and he loves being able to peak over the top. Initially we made a series of castles. We put hay inside the biggest one and the smaller ones were used as models for my wife’s Year 1 class.

I have no idea where the decent photo of him has gone, but apparently my wife put him on some sort of Happiness background:

He also has this one, which allegedly has a nut treat inside (I hadn’t checked until now!) but he’s never taken any interest in it and, if you ask me, it looks like the ‘nut’ is encased in a wooden ball.

The poops may because she’s had her free-roaming space increased dramatically and if it’s a problem you may need to confine her until she learns. But mainly that’s useful for pee problems; most bunnies will poop a bit regardless of how trained they are.

Many rabbits don’t play or at least play like we play so don’t worry about that – once she gets comfortable, she’ll explore.

Is Peanut spayed? Rabbits do poo alot but they do need to be litter trained – if she is out and pooing then perhaps add an extra litter box outside the cage.

The Living World Teach n Treat is great! I live in the US and I ordered off of Amazon for only $19. Bun Bun figured out all the levels very quickly but it seemed the first one was hardest? The levels seemed to go backwards for him, 3rd being the easiest then 2nd then 1st. That being said, he’s very food motivated so that’s why he figured it out quickly. This is the only toy he likes to play with besides his treats balls that again, has to do with food.

Yes, I found that the order seemed reverse too. The 3rd one seemed laughably easy because as soon as he opened one pot the others slid around and opened up.

It was well worth it though, he uses it even when there’s no food in it. The suctions don’t work on our carpet (well, I haven’t really tired). He loves lift it with his teeth and tries to shake pellets out.

                      My bun isn’t very playful.

And about the poo thing, I believe rabbits poop out 200-300 poops a day, so yes, they do poo a lot.

My bunny, Brownie, seems to like to explore a lot. She has figured out where I hide her pellets in some of the different toys in her cage. This afternoon when I was hiding them in her teacup she hopped over and started to poke her head inside looking for the pellets. It was so cute seeing her do this.
