I have a 2 month old rabbit named Bunnard and she’s very energetic, like most baby bunnies are. I have had a rabbit before, but she passed away because I got her when she was old. Basically I left my baby out yesterday night (which is rare, usually I put her away at night so she does not pee on my bed.) I left my kitten in my room as well because they get on really well, like sisters. I don’t know if my rabbit may have ate something or just is having messy poo. When I went into the room this morning she was acting fine as far as I could see, but when I lifted her up she had poop stuck on her bottom. So I cleaned her up the best I could and gave her some hay and pellets. I know bunnies poop little balls most of the time, but is this odd for her to have poop on her bum? She is a very big troublemaker and likes to eat tons of stuff, candles, whatever she can find. I’ve cleaned my room dramatically since then and I’ve had no problems for a few days. I was wondering if maybe my cat frightened her and made her poo this way? She is drinking and eating like normal and I think she is pooping pellets too I’m not sure.

I don’t have any money to take her to a vet right now. I’m 17 and I just get worried easily I guess. Her private part was a bit swollen but not much.

Can someone tell me if this is occasionally normal for bunnies to poop like mine did?

If she’s having normal poos now, I wouldn’t worry about it. It may have been something she ate or it could have been cecals.

Cecals are nutritious poos that they usually eat right out of their bum (yum, right? They are called “night droppings” as well since bunny’s usually do this at night. Sometimes a bunny will make more than they need to eat and they will get squished onto feet or fur. Check out the pinned topic here in the Q&A Forum called “Guide to Bunny Poop”. Frequent extra cecals can be due to a diet that needs to be modified.
