  I have two baby bunnies that I am trying to care for. They are now about two weeks old. Should I start to feed them dry food. I figure the mother had them for about 4-6 day and then we bottle feed them for 7 days. And what about cecotropies. Did the mother get enough in them or not. Do they produce their own at this age? I have so many questions. Please help me!!!

  Saw this on the pinned post and followed it over. I can answer this one easy. You mention you have had to bottle feed from about a week. Is the mother there or did something go wrong ? Ideally the mother will feed them for 8-10 weeks then start to wean them. From the moment they can move about and their eyes open they will start to try new things and forage about. All my oopsies and rescues have helped themselves to Mums food as well as milk. They require mothers milk for atleast 8 weeks but can be weaned early in emergencies. The babies cannot produce their own cecals till about 8-12 weeks old, until then they rely on Mum to pruduce extra for them to have. Mums cecals not only give them the enzimes andbacteria for good gut function but also antibodies that strengthens their immune system. They also get many of these elements from Mums milk.

  Thank you for helping me around everyone. I should have said that these are wild Bunnies. They were in my garden when I tilled it up. Two of the for did not make it . The third was it bad shape for 2-3 days. Mommy bunny is not in the picture. She raised them about 3-4 day and then we took over. They appear to be about 2 weeks old now and are starting to eat solids. Any thoughts?

  I will message member Cottontails. She knows about wild bunnies. Most of us here are not very knowledgeable with them.
