We have tile floors in our house, so I have a large piece of remnant carpet for the bunnies that their xpen is on. We just found some fleas on the dog the other day so we have been on flea duty taking care of the problem. I read that fleas don’t like the smell/taste of vinegar(it also kills them when mixed with dawn dishsoap during a bath, for a more chemical free way of dealing with the unwanted guests). I read you can spray your dogs coat with strait vinegar out of a spray bottle daily if needed, now for my actual question!

After I vacuum the bunnies rug I wanted to spray vinegar on the rug and let it set while the bunnies are not in there to help kill/deter fleas from coming into thier area. Will this harm the bunnies at all? I was wondering if anyone else uses vinegar in their bunnies cages during cleaning and if it will effect them??

Vinegar is generally considered harmless when used as a detergent. It’s commonly used to take out bunny urine-smell and pee-stains and as a deterrant. Some bunnies avoid vinegar-smelling areas, which is useful if you have a chewer and/or pee-marking bun. Not all buns give a d-n though.)

So I think it’s harmless but the bunnies may not like their carpet a lot for a while after.

Thanks Bam! I sprayed some on the carpet that was on the outside of their cage last night, I was surprised to see they still were going near the edges of their cage after I sprayed. Im thinking the smell must not bother them to much, but they are pretty nosy lol.
