hi!!! I’m Clara and i’m new to Binky Bunny and i joined cause i needed a little help with my almost 1 year old lop eared bunny named Harry. he lives in a hutch outside and he has a problem with using the bathroom in his house instead of outside on the ground in his pen. He is not neutered but he will be as soon as we have time. another stress of mine is he doesn’t like to come to me, i try to be as gentle as possible but he still keeps his distance and spends alot of time downstairs in his hutch where he knows i can’t get him.

please, if you have any tips or advise i’d be so thankful.

Odds are that Harry isn’t sure of you because he spends most of his time outside in the hutch with minimal human contact. He would probably be happier inside where he can spend your free time with you. I’m not sure how else you could best gain his trust.

As for the litter box skills–this probably because he’s not yet neutered. This should get better after he is fixed!

Was about to say the same thing. Bunnies that are inside and part of the day to day house activities are much more social and outgoing. Being outside in a hutch tends to make them very aware of their territory and also a bit afraid of anything that approaches their home. I know there are no large predators in NZ but there are still local cats and large birds that can scare a little bunny in a big hutch…. Is it possible to bring him in ? He might be a bit unsure at first but given time he should litter train and start to interact with you (especially once he is neutered)
