So the new baby is really tiny. And to give her as much time as possible outside the cage, I’ve brought the xpen out (the trouble buns previously had free roam of my room.) and basically, i’m afraid she may be able to slip through the bars, and I really don’t want to take that chance. Other than cardboard, what would you suggest I stick over the bars? Something that’s cheap to get, preferably. Thanks!

If it’s on the outside and only temporary until she gets a bit bigger what about chicken or cage wire?

Hmm, that may work. I could probably buy rabbit wire, which I know is stronger than chicken wire. I also know my local tractor supply sells it. I’d have to get a huge roll though… I’ll check the price when I go to the store Monday.

And by that, I meant they only sell the huge rolls.

Haha, sorry, but I thought of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJdT9HEAg60
                and it’s sequel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy36v05hX8o

But I think that rabbit or chicken wire would be a good idea. Now that spring is (trying) to roll in, a lot of stores are stocking their garden centers and you might be able to find smaller rolls of wire so you don’t have so much left over. If she’s a jumper, though, you might want to look into a covering for the xpen. I know some members have draped sheets over the tops to dissuade their bunnies from trying to jump out?

MeketatenBun: That first video is exactly what I’m afraid of happening!  She’s so tiny, and I hate locking her in the small cage when I’m not able to watch her while the other two are allowed out nearly 24/7 (I’ve been putting them to bed at night because SOMEONE  *Looks at Nala* can’t stop peeing on me when I’m sleeping.) The trouble buns absolutely love cardboard, so that’s why I needed a different solution. Also, thankfully, Clarke isn’t a jumper… yet… the xpen is 30 inches high, and I don’t have anything near the cage walls for her to use as a launching pad. Here’s a current photo of their whole set up. My bedroom has been overrun by bunnies.
