Hi everyone! New and proud daddy of a bunny! First ever pet actually.

I adopted my baby bun 3 days ago from someone whose buns had a litter of 4 early in January, which would make her (assuming it’s a her) a little over 2 months old. It took a little over 48 hours for her to get used to the new environment, but as of last night she seems to be acting “normal” now. I named her “Migi” by the way, which means “right” in japanese (thought it sounded cute when I heard it in an anime). It took me a while to figure out how she liked to be fed or drink water. The first couple days she wouldn’t eat much hay, but munched of pellets like crazy. She also wasn’t peeing much until I noticed the white dried stains in her cage. The previous owner gave me quite a few of these timothy hay blocks and told me to just leave it in the cage. After some research I decided to stop because apparently they’re high in calcium and that’s what is causing the white pee. After limiting her pellets and trying out a few things with her hay (shoving it inside a tissue roll, leaving it on the floor, and inside litterbox) I figured out she doesn’t like the hay dispenser and prefers the toilet roll. I’ve had her since Friday afternoon and from then til yesterday afternoon, she would not let me pet her at all and would constantly bump my hand or nip at me. Surprisingly enough, after her 5 hour sleep yesterday, her personality completely changed. She began hopping into the litterbox to pee ALWAYS (with very little to no calcium deposit), she’s eating more hay now, she licks me now when I spend time on the floor and doesn’t mind if I pet her and stroke her mane, she’s been playing with all the toys I bought for her, and just this morning she’s been jumping on my bed (I don’t know how to feel about this yet, seems like she thinks she owns this room now haha). It’s been a blessing. Time to teach her some tricks!

I also love the fact that I can just leave her cage open when I’m here. She goes in to rest/eat/pee when she needs to after playing around. I made a little maze out of the free area I have in my room  along with this lamp box I turned into a tunnel she really likes.

tldr; Adopted a baby bunny. Bunny was either sick or depressed about leaving her old home and siblings. Fixed her diet and tried to encourage her to eat and play. She fell asleep for 5 hours yesterday afternoon. Now she’s even more amazing .

Congrats on your new addition! Sounds like Migi is going to have a great personality, spunky!
