Hi again everyone! I’m trying to have my bun get used to being picked up because I want to check for any poop/urine residue on their for. I’m thinking of giving her a treat to distract her and practice lifting her chest area, lowering back down and repeat with another treat. What kind of treats can I give a 2.5 months old bun?

I am told not to give any treats other than hay and pellets till 4 months plus. My 3 month old bunny loves the Genesis alfalfa pellets like mad and I use the pellets as treats.

Yeah her food pellets are working like a charm. She goes crazy for them. It’s so sad when she keeps looking for more! ]:

I only give Patrick Hay for food, he likes timothy pellets as a treat every now and then and I also give him small slices of apple and orange, he loves them both, but I think he likes the explosion of the orange in his mouth, you can see his eyes close and almost a smile when he eats it lol, its pretty cute.

Patrick — only hay? Buns need either pellets or a large variety of greens to get all the vitamins and nutruents.

I’ve found that my buns prefer fresh fruit and berries for treats. A piece of apple or banana, a raspberry, or a seedless grape, and they’re very happy.

For picking up the bunny, however, I suggest doing it during a good cuddle. If the rabbit’s laying down, relaxed, and you gently but firmly lift them up while talking quietly to them, they (in my experience, at least) have an easier time accepting it and getting used to associating it with good times
