So, I cut a bunch of daffodils for a vase this morning, and a couple of the stems fell on the floor. I hadn’t cleaned them up yet. I was feeding the bunnies a while ago, and I got distracted and forgot to close their door. They were roaming around by the daffodils for a minute or two. I counted the clippings, and I don’t thing any are missing. I also put a stem in front of them, and they showed no interest in eating it, so I doubt they thought it was too tasty. I’m just worried that they might have eaten a nibble or two of one of the stems while they were “on the run.” I know that daffodils (mostly the bulbs) are toxic, but could this amount cause any serious effects?

Hopefully it was only a small amount, make sure your bunny is eating. Keep up lots of fresh hay, greens and water to try and push everything through. Even some CC for a day might be an idea to fill up the tummy. Watch for any discomfort or changes in behavior and give your vet a call just to see if they can suggest anything to watch for.

I doubt it was more than a bite or two, if any. Is the critical care a big help for this type of thing? I’d hate to force feed them if it’s not needed. They seem to be acting and eating OK right now.

I’m thinking a tiny nibble won’t hurt. They might have nibbled and thought, ew, yuck! And left the rest! Like Roberta said, just keep an eye open for anything that would indicate an issue (not eating, not pooping, runny stools, etc…)

Wild bunnies tend to avoid daffodils. That’s one of the reasons daffodils can be grown here =)

I think they’d have to ingest more than a nibble for it to be toxic.

Critical care doesn’t remedy poisoning per se, it’s if they stop eating and pooping that you may need to give critical care.
