What kinds of hay are ok? I hear timothy all of the time and sometimes orchard. These two monsters have eaten 5 lbs.of hay in 2 1/2 weeks and I’m looking to get a bail of hay from a farmer. Is just plain old grass hay okay?

I use brome hay, with orchard as a treat hay. We get bales for $5 for 50 or so lbs, so farm fresh (horse quality) hay is the best for the money. Any grass hay is fine, just avoid the high protein hays (alfalfa), straw (cow / goat hay) and such.

I recently bought a bale of the mature oat hay from the Binky Bunny store – my Holland lop, Liebchen, adores it. She’s always enjoyed Oxbow’s oat hay, but she likes this stuff way more. She’s not a big fan of Timothy hay and never has been.
